Passions

To be passionate is something greater than we know. The way a person’s eyes light up when they talk about what fuels their soul is pure passion. I have a lot of passion in me, but there are a few things that top the cake. IMG_5594

Feminism. Yes, I really did just drop the f bomb. And no. No I am not sorry nor do I need those questioning eyes filled with pity when I proudly say I am a Feminist. I will not apologize or be degraded or take those sexist jokes lightly, because feminism is not something to joke about nor is it something to be ashamed of being. Feminism is, by definition, the advocacy of women’s rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men. Shocker! I don’t hate men! Women have been fighting for so long to have the same rights as men, and while we have made progress there is still so much more to do. I began making progress at my high school after hearing one to many rape jokes by becoming the founder and president of the first Women’s Rights Advocacy Club. We volunteered at my local women’s aid shelter and raised money for them as well as spreading awareness on social media and throughout the school.

I am also extremely passionate about education. If you read my education page you know that I am a future educator and care a lot about other’s educations. I cherish the knowledge I have learned throughout my life thus far and want to be able to educate others so they can do great things in this world. I believe that teaching is one of the best careers because while I further my knowledge I am also furthering hundreds of students’ knowledge.
